In 2015 Payton's father told her: "if you spent as much time on your homework as you do on your hair and makeup, you wouldn't struggle so much with school."
At that point, Payton knew shes didn't  belong in a lecture hall with everyone else, but that she was born to be in the hair and beauty industry! She attend MJ Murphy Beauty College in 2016, where she found a love for extensions, highlights, and special occasion styles. 
Fast forward to 2018, Payton landed her dream job at The Avenue. In 2020, she began her journey with the education team at the salon. She teaches several color classes, as well as advanced business building to the new talent in the salon.​
